Payment Policy:
Payments for Speech-Language Therapy services are accepted before or at the time of the session. Payments can be made by bank transfer or cash. Late payment fees apply if sessions are not paid within 7 days (10% of the amount owing per month). If your balance is outstanding 30 days of your last session, your details will be referred a debt collection agency.
Caregiver Involvement:
Seeing a Speech-Language Therapist is not like visiting a doctor, your involvement in the Speech-Language Therapy process is encouraged from the beginning. Your Speech-Language Therapist will work with your child, but also teach you how to support your child’s skills at home. This will promote the best outcomes for your child.
Home Practice:
Home practice is important for Speech-Language Therapy to be effective. Your Speech-Language Therapist will provide homework tasks and materials, and work with you to create a plan of how best to fit homework into your routine. Research shows that small blocks of practice each day (e.g. 10-15min) are far more effective than one long practice session a week.
Most times, homework tasks will be a mix of naturally occurring lessons through conversation (e.g. if your child is learning new concepts such as dirty and clean, you might make a special effort to label the words “dirty” and “clean” as they occur, and possibly set up some specific situations/games which also target the concept), along with some structured tasks as appropriate (such using picture materials to target specific skills).
Cancellation Policy:
Please contact your Speech-Language Therapist as soon as possible if your child is unwell or will not be attending their session for any reason. Sessions cancelled 24 hours in advance will not be charged. Sessions cancelled after this time will be charged 50% of the session rate. The full rate of the session will be charged if no notification is given (i.e. non-attendance).
Please email any cancellations to elizabeth@beyondwordsslt.co.nz, or text 027 379 4767.
